The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degree seeks graduate Practitioners who desire to improve the quality of clinical practice, the profession and society through advanced Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine studies and specializations.
The Doctoral Candidates will build upon the knowledge acquired in their foundational Master's degree program and the professional experience gained through the Classics, Acupuncture Techniques, Herbal Prescriptions
and case management, furthering their capacity to integrate Traditional
Chinese Medicine with the Biomedical Sciences. In addition the specialty area of Pain Management will be broadly developed allowing the expansion
of clinical practice in the specialty in a variety of areas: orthopedics, sports medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, drug addictions, etc.
In addition you will be building research capabilities, exploring and verifying
information which allows for the expansion of
knowledge in the area of Asian Medicine.

Features of the Samra University Doctoral of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program are:
An Advanced Fundamental Core Program which will build on basic
foundations acquired in your Masters Degree program. This program of study will extend knowledge of the Classics and further integrate TCM with biomedicine.
All Faculty are Masters or Experts in their field of study. The faculty is a mixture of East and West, all having Doctorate or equivalent
standing. Asian Faculty members are MD’s in their home countries with 10 years or more of clinical experience. Western faculty members have Doctoral degrees in Oriental Medicine or in a related scientific field and five or more years of clinical experience in the field. All are accomplished practitioners and scholars.
The Specialty area is Pain Management which can be implemented in a variety of areas of practice: Orthopedics, sports medicine, oncology, obstetrics, geriatrics, gynecology, pediatrics, Sa Sang Therapy.
A firm grounding in Research and Research Design allows the
practitioner to pursue meaningful inquiry and discovery. A Dissertation is required to complete the program, under the close guidance of accomplished researchers.
Didactic courses will be taught all day Fridays. This will allow a maximum of focus on the course of study and a minimum of disturbance with one's work week. The program is normally completed in two years.
Qualifications
Applicants must have completed a master's degree in Oriental Medicine or its equivalent. Herbal medicine training must be included in the applicants training. Equivalent credentials from recognized foreign institutions are acceptable but one must have reading, writing and speaking mastery of the English language.
Tuition
Current tuition is $23,500 for the 24 month program. Tuition does not include the cost of books or other fees such as parking, graduation, and transcript and document processing.
