Title of Practitioner: DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine)
Education and Examination Requirements:
2400 hours from ACCAOM plus NCCAOM certification as well as the New Mexico practical examination.
Practice of Acupuncture by other Health Care Providers:
Medial doctors, osteopaths and chiropractors can practice acupuncture in New Mexico with no specific training, however, they cannot call themselves "acupuncturists" and chiropractors may not use the term “acupuncture”, they have to call what they do "meridian therapy".
