Title of Practitioner:  Diplomat of Acupuncture (Dipl.Ac.)

There is no law regulating the practice of acupuncture in Michigan . Acupuncturists may not diagnose patients, thus all patients must be referred by an MD or DO with a diagnosis

Practice of Acupuncture by other Health Care Providers:

Medical doctors and osteopaths may practice acupuncture in Michigan without any specific training.

A medical doctor or osteopath may refer an acupuncturist if the medical doctor first examines the patient and determines that acupuncture is the treatment of choice.

Acupuncture is not within the scope of practice of chiropractors.
