Title of Practitioner: Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.)
Education and Examination Requirements:
1725 hours from an ACCAOM plus NCCAOM Certification
Practice of Acupuncture by other Health Care Providers:
Medical doctors and osteopaths may practice acupuncture in Maine without any specific training.
Chiropractors must have at least 200 hours of board approved training in order to practice acupuncture.
Naturopathic Doctors may practice "naturopathic acupuncture" if they have completed a 1300 hour, board approved acupuncture program and passed an examination administered by the NCCAOM.
