Title of Practitioner:
Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.)
Certified Acupuncturist (C.Ac.) for MD's and DC's
Education and Examination Requirements:
1725 hours from an ACCAOM plus NCCAOM Certification
Practice of Acupuncture by other Health Care Providers:
Medical doctors and osteopaths may practice acupuncture without any specific training, however, if they carry the title “Certified Acupuncturist” after their name, they have obtained certification from the acupuncture board.
Chiropractors must meet educational requirements and be “Certified Acupuncturists” under the Board of Acupuncture in order to practice acupuncture.
