Admission as a Non-Degree Seeking Student A student may be admitted as a non-degree-seeking, that is, not as a candidate for a degree, for a limited number and kinds of units. Non-degree seeking students will not receive certificates or diplomas for coursework taken at Samra. Admission is subject to the availability of classroom space remaining after the University's regular students have enrolled. Non-Degree seeking students must meet same admissions requirements as regular matriculating students. Persons who have the individual course prerequisites may, with the permission of the Dean, enroll for a maximum of 15 units. To enroll for any additional study, the student must meet the qualifications for admission as a regular student and transfer into the degree program.
Please see "Admissions Procedures" below for more detail.

Students from other accredited Oriental medical colleges who want to take one or more specific course(s) at Samra University of Oriental Medicine must submit (1) a transcript from their Oriental medical school and (2) a letter of recommendation from the Academic Dean of their school which includes reasons why the school is recommending the student to take the specific course(s) at Samra University of Oriental Medicine. The Academic Standards Committee will review the transcript and letter and approve or disapprove of students' enrolling in specific classes at Samra University on a case-by-case basis.

Co-requisite Courses Four basic science courses are classified as program co-requisite courses. These are 210 Human Biology (or General Biology), 214 Basic Physics, 215 Basic Chemistry and 216 Organic and Biochemistry. Students entering the University with pre-existing college credit and grades of C or better, for any or all of these classes, will receive transfer credit for their work. In the event that one or more of these classes comprise the part of the 90 quarter/60 semester units required for entry into the program, the student will be offered the option of re-taking one or more of these classes or completing an equivalent number of elective course credits at Samra University. For example, if a student enters the school with 93 quarter units which include Human Biology and Basic Chemistry, the student will receive 3 transfer credits for Human Biology and 3 transfer credits for Basic Chemistry. The student will be required to complete 3 additional quarter units of an elective of their choice in order to maintain the required credits needed for graduation.
